The LPO - League for the Protection of Birds was created in 1912 to put an end to the massacre of the Atlantic puffin in Brittany, a seabird that has since become its symbol. It was recognized of public utility in 1986.


The LPO is one of the main national conservatories of natural areas, particularly wetlands, of which it is one of the major historical managers. It manages more than 20,000 hectares of natural environments spread over 130 sites in 21 French regions, including 15,000 hectares of land and marine nature reserves and 1,350 hectares of owned land.


Its missions:

citizen awareness and mobilization
support for companies and communities.

With 57,000 members and more than 8,000 active volunteers in France, it relies on a network of local associations active in 83 departments.  The LPO is today the leading nature protection association in France.




Natagora was born in 2003 from the merger of two associations: Aves and Natural Reserves RNOB. Together, they created Natagora, a strong structure to enable them to protect the best interests of biodiversity.


Present on all fronts to defend biodiversity, Natagora creates and manages nature reserves and develops many other actions involving all the actors of society.

Natagora gets results. They are the sum of the work of motivated volunteers, passionate professionals, ever-increasing members and enthusiastic partners.




Under the impetus and involvement of volunteer members of several associations for the knowledge and protection of nature in Normandy, the Conservatoire des Sites Naturels de Normandie was created in 1989. 


In 2011, the Conservatories of Sites change their name to become "Conservatories of Natural Spaces" and their visual identity evolves in 2012 to respond to a harmonization of the national network of the Conservatories of Natural Spaces.


The Regional Conservatories of Natural Spaces contribute to the preservation of natural and semi-natural spaces, notably through actions of knowledge, land control and use, management and enhancement of natural heritage on the regional territory.


They also carry out local expertise missions and territorial animation missions in support of public policies in favor of natural heritage.





Made up of the communes of Ellezelles, Flobecq, Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, Mont-de-l'Enclus and part of the commune of Ath (the villages of Mainvault, Houtaing and Ostiches), the Pays des Collines is a territory imbued with a strong identity. 


The total area of the Natural Park is 23,327 hectares for 26,125 inhabitants (beginning of 2011).
